Overview

Very often counsellors and other allied mental health professionals are faced with a dilemma; where does their work with mental health issues start and finish. This course is designed to assist counsellors in identifying their role in the treatment of depression and provides information is relation to assessment, intervention and prevention.

 

Content

In this course you will learn: the factors that contribute to the aetiology of depression; assessing depression; understanding suicide risk assessment; counselling strategies for cognitive therapy, peer support group therapy, family therapy and family support group therapy; information on prevention strategies (universal, selective and early); and handouts for family members and clients.
