Helping children to express their feelings and to understand why they are feeling the way they are will enhance their emotional, mental and physical well-being. Yet it can be difficult to know how to work with a child in a way that is both age-appropriate and constructive. This course has been designed to assist helping professionals in communicating with children in a manner that fosters emotional expression.
In this course you will learn: developmental milestones; stages of development; the different personality traits in children; five basic personality patterns (the highly sensitive child, the self-absorbed child, the defiant child, the inattentive child and the active/aggressive child); events or situations that may hinder the child's normal developmental stages (grief and loss, child abuse and having a disability); and techniques that can be used to help children express their feelings.
