Adrian Hellwig began his working life as an officer in military intelligence. On leaving the armed services he studied for the Catholic priesthood and before being ordained completed his Bachelor of Theology, majoring in Philosophy and Theology. He has lectured in comparative religions at the Institute of Faith Education and been a member of the executive committee of the Catholic Commission for Ecumenism.

 

On leaving the priesthood in 1988 Adrian commenced a career in counselling and is currently Permanent Head of the Complaint Tribunal’s of both the Australian Counselling Association and Clinical Counsellors Association; President of the Clinical Counsellors Association; CCA delegate to PACFA, and Member of the PACFA Ethics Network. Adrian was also selected to be one of only two Australia delegates to the Asia Pacific Rim Confederation of Counsellors. In recognition of his services to the counselling industry as a whole, Adrian was recently awarded the title “Honorary Member” with the ACA.

 

He has lectured at the National Conferences of ACA, PACFA, The MS Society, and most recently, at the International Counselling Association’s International conference. Adrian has also written articles and book reviews for the Journal “Counselling Australia”.

 

For the last 15yrs Adrian has worked as a counsellor at a private boys College dealing with students from grades 5 through to 12 and before that within the Department of Corrective Services (Community Corrections).

Bio:

Dr Clive Jones currently holds the position of Assistant Professor at Bond University. Graduating with a PhD in Psychology from the University of Southern Queensland in 1999, Clive holds undergraduate and post graduate degrees in psychology and education.

 

Dr Jones combines academic responsibilities with comprehensive practice experience as a psychologist through his academic writing, course developing, subject coordinating, lecturing and practice/supervision activities. He has taught a range of undergraduate and postgraduate subjects in psychology and counselling through Griffith University School of Applied Psychology, Griffith University School of Education & Professional Studies, Bond University Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences, Bond University Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine and The Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors School of Counselling.

 

He is a registered psychologist who has convened subjects and lectured in the areas of abnormal psychology, counselling psychology, cross cultural psychology, developmental psychology, educational counselling, educational psychology, personality and individual difference, psychology of high performance sport, psychology of sport and exercise, social psychology, communication, leadership & negotiation, the psychology of injury & rehabilitation and teaching to difference.

 

He has also served on numerous higher education teaching committees in the development of undergraduate, masters and doctoral programs with the key responsibility of incorporating relevant areas of psychology into the disciplines of counselling, physiotherapy, management and high performance sport. He is currently involved in the development of a new undergraduate psychology degree. Clive also served 10 years as executive director and principal supervisor of a consortium of NGO Mental Health Services whereby he maintained his own clinical caseload while supervising a team of psychologists, counsellors and social workers.

 

He remains a preferred sport psychology provider with the Queensland Academy of Sport with a particular focus on dealing with pertinent mental health issues within the athletic community and is a member of; the Australian Psychological Society (APS), the APS College of Counselling Psychologists, the APS College of Sport Psychologists and is a board member of the Australian Counselling Association.

Jason Dixon, PhD, is a bilingual Clinical Counsellor, researcher, Interpreter, Counsellor Educator & Supervisor. He holds a doctorate from the Ohio University and a Master of Counselling from the Australian Catholic University. Jason provides cross-cultural mental health assessments for Queensland Health to assist mental health practitioners deliver psychological services to Japanese patients. Jason is currently engaged by Queensland University of Technology, Faculty of Health as a Research Fellow in Mental Health - Vietnam Project. Jason has also has experience as a Lecturer at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in Counselling and Social Work.

 

Jason's clinical services include counselling in Japanese to the Japanese community taking into consideration acculturative and adjustment issues. He specialises in the treatment of alcohol and other drug use issues drawing from Harm Reduction, Relapse Prevention and abstinence based approaches. His research pursuits include psychometrics, survey design and cross-cultural psychology and counselling of culturally and linguistically diverse populations.

Dr Jeffrey Po

Bio:

Jeffrey Po is a psychotherapist in private practice. He is also a trainer and an educator. Having acquired vast experience in the teaching of Buddhist studies, Buddhist psychology and lecturing in various private educational institutions in Singapore on topics related to counselling and psychology, Jeffrey has designed a method of psychotherapy combining Psychosynthesis and Buddhist Psychology which he calls "Psychosynthetic-Buddhism". He has successfully employed this technique in his treatment of psychological issues of adolescents in high risk, the elderly and prison inmates.

Currently Jeffrey is also the President of the Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (Singapore) for the term of office 2012 - 2014.
