In this course, psychologist Rachel Tomlinson (B.A., Psych; Post-Grad Dip Psych) notes the 3:1 ratio of male/female diagnosis in childhood, which shrinks to 1:1 in adulthood, illustrating the under-diagnosis in girls. Tomlinson explains this as a result of both societal expectations around gender and the tendency of girls to have less disruptive (and thus less visible) symptoms than boys.
