This course provides an overview of the underlying theoretical principles related to alcohol use, the development of related disorders, and the treatment of those disorders. Upon completion of this course, you will gain an understanding of the biological, social, and psychological effects of alcohol abuse; the diagnostic criteria for alcohol use disorder and related alcohol-induced disorders; the screening tools that assist diagnosis; and common interventions used in the treatment of alcohol use disorders.
