In this course, Michael Wilson (Research Fellow in young men’s mental health with Orygen Centre for Youth Mental Health at University of Melbourne, Australia) introduces a nuanced and evidence-based exploration of men’s suicide risk in the context of relationship breakdown. Drawing from the largest global meta-analysis of men’s suicidality and separation, Wilson examines how masculinity, emotion regulation, shame, loneliness, and social disconnection intersect to influence risk. <br><br>With a focus on real-world application, the course offers clinicians practical insights into early intervention, protective factors, and strengths-based support during high-risk periods—particularly in the 12 months following separation. The course equips mental health professionals with tools to better understand gendered distress and support recovery in men navigating relational loss.
