About this course

In this course, Dr. Robert Cramer, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Belk Distinguished Scholar, Department of Public Health Sciences, University of North Carolina at Charlotte) offers a rationale for the model that he introduces by observing that, in the suicide prevention training literature, there is a gap: approaches and resources exist for gatekeepers and for advanced interventions, but little in between those two extremes. Dr. Cramer discusses the Core Competency (CCM) Model he developed with others, outlining the fundamental principles and illustrating how it was adapted for use by the Corrections Department in the United States. He defines interprofessional education (IPE) and explains the IPE suicide prevention competencies in the context of training approaches using it.
