About this course

In this course, Dr Eric Green (Ph.D., LPC-s, RPT-s, SP, Associate Professor, Purdue University, Faculty Associate, John Hopkins University) outlines the basic assumptions and clinical history that inform play-based interventions. He identifies research to support questions of whether children (or parents) should be included in play therapy sessions, why play therapy has not seen more integration with family therapy, and potential pitfalls for therapists taking on such work. Dr Green lists the steps the therapist must take in order to make successful interventions using mandalas/drawings and also family genograms. The last section of the video is a parent consultation modelling facilitative communication skills.
