Couple Counselling: Models and Interventions

This course offers an introduction to some of the major theoretical concepts and psychotherapeutic processes of couple counselling.

About this course

Commencing a romantic relationship is one of the most important transitions that an individual can undergo. Being a couple represents a new creation of a new self identity and a whole new set of social relationships with spouses, parents, relatives and friends. Romantic relationships require two individuals to come together as a unit and renegotiate personal issues that have previously been defined by individual status, making change within each individual inevitable. This course offers an introduction to some of the major theoretical concepts and psychotherapeutic processes of couple counselling. You will gain an understanding of some key issues that arise in couple counselling and how to apply Solution Focused Therapy in order to build healthy communication between the couple.
