Crisis Support for the Autism Community

In this course, Brenna Maddox and Lisa Morgan outline the characteristics that will help you identify an autistic person and describe ways in which you can support them when they are in crisis.

About this course

In this course, Brenna Maddox, Ph.D., and Lisa Morgan, LCSW-CC, M.Ed., observe that, because of communicational, interactional, and sensory sensitivity differences from neurotypical people, autistic people who reach out for support in crisis are often unintentionally harmed. Maddox and Morgan outline ways to identify that someone is autistic (because they may not disclose their diagnosis) and outline what is needed for them to be given appropriate support when they are in crisis.
