About this course
In this course, Jane Boland, Clinical Leader, James’ Place, Head of Liverpool Service, describes the vision and target population (men in suicidal crisis) of the James’ Place program for suicide prevention. The intervention is underpinned by both the Interpersonal Theory of Suicide and the Integrated Motivational Volitional Model; Boland outlines the chief components of these. The four chief segments of the program are explained, along with comments on the partnerships and referral pathways maintained by James’ Place personnel. Boland concludes with a summary of the evaluation, whose findings showed that the James’ Place Model effectively reduces psychological distress and entrapment.
