About this course

In this course, Dr. Cirecie A. West-Olatunji (Xavier University of Louisiana) explores early childhood developmental clinical issues, such as traumatic stress and attachment, and provides concrete, evidence-based interventions in order to more effectively work with this often overlooked client population. By increasing knowledge of these issues, mental health professionals can better advocate for underserved, marginalised children whose psychological and emotional needs are often poorly conceptualised and treated. Participants can expect to increase: (a) Knowledge of traumatic stress and attachment issues in early childhood; (b) Awareness of their biases toward socially marginalized children and the impact of those biases on effective case conceptualisation, and; (c) Clinical competence by acquiring new evidence-based intervention tools for young children.
