Healing Through Kink

In this course, Anisa Varasteh examines what is involved in kink and/or BDSM, why safety and mutual consent is so crucial, and how such practices can be healing, corrective emotional experiences for clients.

About this course

In this course, Anisa Varasteh, clinical sexologist, explains the relationship between kink and BDSM and shares what people find appealing about it. Several acronyms used throughout the course – for example, SSC, RACK, and ROUGH-BS – all underscore the importance of safety and negotiation, further strengthened by the negotiation and safety planning practices outlined. Varasteh examines the therapeutic potential of kink and erotic play, identifying the psychological theories which support notions of kink and showing how it can be a corrective emotional experience. Scene planning, attunement, aftercare, and patterns of play are all noted.
