Helping Clients Deal with Problem Anger: Understanding and De-escalating Anger

The goal of this course is to deepen your understanding about the complex human emotion of anger: its function, physiology, causes, and the seemingly endless triggers that can provoke it in your clients.

About this course

Along with anxiety and depression, clients afflicted by problem anger may be one of the most common presentations in therapy. Yet, despite the fact that anger is a basic human emotion which everyone experiences on occasion, it is also a hugely complex construct. This course explains the functions of anger, outlines the cycle of anger and signs that it is occurring, debunks anger myths, explains recent neuroscience discoveries about the parts of the brain involved in anger, and shows mental health professionals how to respond appropriately to someone at different levels of anger escalation.
