How Can Gratitude and Hope Inoculate People Against Depression?

In this course, Dr. Justin Coulson unpacks what is great and what is not in the research and practice of gratitude and hope, with a specific focus on exercises that achieve the best outcomes with clients.

About this course

Every practitioner wants to improve the wellbeing of those they consult with. Since the positive psychology “movement” began nearly 20 years ago, gratitude and hope have been championed as powerful practices and principles to aid in the fight against mental illness. But do they work? And are they as potent as the evangelists portray? This course unpacks what's great and what's not in the research and practice of gratitude and hope. But more than a review of research, Dr. Justin Coulson will explain which gratitude exercises achieve the greatest impact and why, and share specific ideas to build effective practice and processes with clients around gratitude. Further, he will emphasise the most powerful ways we can develop hope in our clients, and offer practical keys and suggestions to lift their vision and help them be sure that the best is yet to come. The course concludes with a short Q&A session with Dr. Coulson.
