About this course

In this course, Dr. Justin Coulson (Happy Families) describes through engaging anecdotes and research-based concepts how intention can build positive relationships. Coulson explains how biases of perception, such as fundamental attribution error and confirmation bias, work to hammer our relationships. Relationships thrive, he says, when we can focus on character strengths and virtues and a way of being which is in accord with Buber’s notions of “I-Thou” (called “I-You” by Coulson). Coulson also weaves in ideas of mindlessness and mindfulness in relationships to explain how a mindful, present-centered, context-sensitive engagement with another person can lead to “above the line” thinking and engender positive relationships.
