About this course
In this course, licenced psychologist Dr. Ellen Inverso (Psy.D., co-developer of CT-R) introduces recovery-oriented cognitive therapy (CT-R) – an adaptation of traditional CBT designed to support individuals with serious mental health conditions.

Dr. Inverso outlines the theoretical underpinnings, including the cognitive model and mode theory, and presents CT-R’s five core steps in depth. The course explores real-world strategies for activating the “adaptive mode,” increasing access to positive beliefs, and fostering purpose through guided discovery and aspiration-based planning. Clinicians will gain a practical and hopeful framework for engaging clients who may be withdrawn, isolated, or experiencing entrenched defeatist beliefs—leading to greater participation, connection, and recovery outcomes.
