About this course

In this course, Dr. Jonathan Singer, Ph.D., LCSW, shares the psychosocial interventions which may be most helpful for suicidal youth and their families. Drawing from the evidence-based therapies of CBT-SP, integrative CBT, motivational interviewing, DBT-A, and attachment-based family therapy, Dr. Singer describes key concepts, assumptions, and techniques, offering clear examples to illustrate his points. For example, in discussing the dialectical nature of DBT-A, Singer explains how a troubled adolescent may need to understand both that she is not fully responsible for the difficulties she is having in relationships, but that it is her responsibility to improve them as much as possible. Dr. Singer’s reference list is organised according to each therapy discussed.
