About this course
In this course, Debbie Joffe Ellis, MDAM, Adjunct professor at Columbia University and widow of Albert Ellis (the founder of Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy), introduces the main principles of REBT. Identifying both the philosophical/theoretical ideas and personal life events which influenced Ellis’ development of the pioneering cognitive therapy, Dr Joffe Ellis explains the chief concepts which underpin the therapy. These include the characteristics of both healthy and unhealthy (irrational) thinking and the ABC Framework. Joffe-Ellis cites the therapies which flowed out of REBT, and peppers the course with illustrative stories and vignettes from Ellis’ life.
