In this course Dr Kristi Kanel, Ph.D., Professor of Human Services at California State University, Fullerton, takes viewers through the ABC model of crisis intervention. In the first half of the video, Dr Kanel explains the skills associated with the three parts of the intervention model: A) Development of rapport; B) Identifying the problem; C) Coping. In the second half of the video, Dr Kanel demonstrates the use of the model with a client who has experienced multiple losses. The last six minutes involve a discussion of the session from the perspective of a professional observer (a licenced family therapist), who gives feedback.
