About this course

In this course, Dr. Brandie Oliver, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Masters in School Counseling Program, Butler University, describes social-emotional learning (SEL) and how it should be integrated within a multi-tiered support system (MTSS). She outlines what components need to be included at each of the tiers, and how SEL knowledge and skills proceed from adult development through student development to school development. Those who adopt SEL need to know what might be keeping educators from “walking the talk”, and this topic is addressed, along with the injunction to start small with a comprehensive implementation, using the 3R’s approach. Multiple strategies are offered for each of the 3R’s.
