Therapeutic Theories that Enhance Play-Based Interventions in the Treatment of Suicidal Youth and Families

In this course, licensed marriage and family therapists Leslie Baker (MA, LMFT, NCC, RPT-S) & Mary Ruth Cross (MS Counseling, LMFT, NCC, RPT-S) introduce the integration of play therapy theories with suicide risk assessment and intervention for children and adolescents. The course explores core therapeutic models, culturally responsive case applications, and structured approaches to assessment and safety planning. Clinicians will gain practical strategies to interpret symbolic play, engage families, and apply evidence-informed interventions that enhance resilience and reduce suicide risk in youth.
