In this course, Dr. Cirecie West-Olatunji (Xavier University of Louisiana) presents an overview of the concept of traumatic stress, the aetiology, and evidence-based interventions that can be used to mediate the effects of chronic and transgenerational stress on individuals, families, and communities. Additionally, Dr. West-Olatunji discusses the ethical, supervision, multicultural, and social justice aspects of traumatic stress service delivery. An ancillary focus on compassion fatigue is also be provided to highlight why self-care is so important for mental health professionals in the field. The course concludes with a short Q&A segment with Dr. West-Olatunji.
