About this course

In this course, Dr. Paul Sharp, a post-doctorate fellow and member of the Men’s Health Research Program in the School of Nursing/Department of Psychiatry, University of British Columbia, explains how mental health service providers can work more effectively with men who are in distressed relationships with an intimate partner, or who have just had such a relationship finish. Dr. Sharp describes the losses for such men and how service providers need to be focused on practical skills (in order to keep the men engaged) and also help them redefine masculinity, gender roles, and what it means to be a “provider”. Dr. Sharp outlines several programs that are currently active and discusses what they focus on.
