<p>Afroze N. Shaikh (she/her) is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin in the Counsellor Education and Counselling Psychology programmes. She is a Licenced Professional Counsellor (LPC-GA) and has provided counselling services in various community and hospital settings to individuals and families impacted by community violence and trauma. Her research and advocacy efforts focus on addressing suicide risk factors and barriers to mental health care. </p>

<p>Afroze N. Shaikh (she/her) is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin in the Counsellor Education and Counselling Psychology programmes. She is a Licenced Professional Counsellor (LPC-GA) and has provided counselling services in various community and hospital settings to individuals and families impacted by community violence and trauma. Her research and advocacy efforts focus on addressing suicide risk factors and barriers to mental health care. </p></br> <p>Dr. Shaikh has received grant funding from national organisations to examine factors that influence suicide risk and service use among older adults. She has presented on this work both regionally and nationally and is published in various counselling journals. She is dedicated to the mentorship of emerging professional counsellors and is actively involved in multiple professional organisations, including the Texas Counselling Association and the International Association of Addictions and Offender Counsellors.</br>
