Barry L. Jackson, Ph.D. is Professor and Director Emeritus of the Drug, Alcohol and Wellness Network at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and a Fulbright Senior Scholar.Dr. Jackson is licensed in Pennsylvania as a Professional Counsellor, is a Fellow of the American Psychotherapy Association and a Diplomat with the Northamerican Association of Masters' in Psychology.<br/><br/>He holds national board certification as both a psychologist and a counsellor. During his 43 year career he has worked in various universities in administrative posts as a vice president, dean, and departmental director. He has been member of the graduate school faculty and most recently the founder, Professor and Director of the Drug, Alcohol and Wellness Network at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. He has more than 50 articles in refereed journals, multiple online publications, governmental reports, monographs, book reviews and has been an editor or editorial board member of more than a dozen publications.<br/><br/>He has consulted with national policy makers on alcohol and drug issues in two nations and his home state of Pennsylvania. He has been recognized for his contributions to addictions and intervention services by the United States Senate and twice received the Pennsylvania State Senate Public Service Award. His contributions to the profession have earned him the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Programs, Outstanding Service Award and the prestigious William J. Schofield III Award for Service to Addiction and Intervention Services. <br/><br/>Barry L. Jackson has twice been selected to the Oxford University Roundtable (Oxford, UK), served as a Senior Honorary Research Fellow at Otago University School of Medicine at Wellington (New Zealand) and was a Visiting Professor for the Pennsylvania Liquor Board.Dr. Jackson was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Malta and has lectured or provided consultation and workshops in New Zealand, Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Turkey, and Romania. In 2006 in served as an Ambassador for Counseling and Psychology for the Eisenhower Foundation and the American Counseling Association. In December 2013 he again served as an ambassador for the profession to Cuba for the Eisenhower Foundation in conjunction with the American Counseling Association.<br/><br/>His keen intellect, charm and ability to connect with his audience have resulted in repeated invitations to speak on a wide variety of counseling and psychology topics including addictions, professional ethics, suicide risk assessment and prevention, community mental health and addictions outreach, consultation/counselling skills, and using the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (to name just a few topics).
