<p>Dr. Dan Reidenberg is the Founder and Director of Safe Online Standards, Director of Thrive at the Mental Health Coalition, and the Managing Director of the National Council for Suicide Prevention. He is a Subject Matter Expert on the Consultant’s Roster for the World Health Organization and served as a special advisor to the International Association for Suicide Prevention. He is Co-Chair of the Media and Suicide Task Force, is a Certified Psychological Autopsy Investigator, and serves on several national and international editorial boards.</p> <p> </p> <p>Dan has presented to over 375,000 people in 15 countries and has written more than 60 articles and 7 book chapters on mental health and suicide. He was the first to bring the technology companies together in 2006 to develop suicide prevention and mental health-related tools and the best practices for technology companies, and continues to advise the largest technology companies on user safety. Dan has also been a consultant to national and global businesses.</p> <p> </p> <p>Dr. Reidenberg was one of the lead authors of the <em>US National Strategy for the Prevention of Suicide (2012)</em> and the <em>US National Prioritized Research Agenda (2016)</em>. He has worked as an adjunct instructor for the Poynter Institute and the WHO training journalists, created a national <em>Award for Excellence in Media Reporting on Suicide</em> as well as the world’s only Certification for Safe Messaging program. He wrote the <em>US Best Practice Recommendations for Media Reporting on Suicide</em>; the <em>Best Practices for Reporting on Mass Shootings</em>; and the <em>Best Practices for Blogging on Suicide</em> tools, and helped develop the <em>Media Recommendations on Bullying</em>. He is the co-lead for the World Health Organization’s <em>Media Guide for Reporting on Suicide</em> and the WHO’s <em>Resource for Filmmakers and Others Working on Stage and Screen for Entertainment Industry Depictions on Mental Health and Suicide</em>.</p> <p> </p> <p>He has developed programs and conducted presentations for media, entertainment and social media companies, military and veterans, law enforcement and threat assessment teams, judicial systems, national and global corporations, nonprofit organizations, national and state governments, communities, faith leaders, hospitals, healthcare systems and providers, veterinarians, farmers and rural communities, task forces, education systems, and suicide loss survivors. Dr. Reidenberg developed one of three evidence-based programs for schools called <em>LEADS</em>; the world’s only online suicide peer support program; a leading program for the construction industry called <em>IBEAM</em>; as well as <em>One Step Ahead</em> – a comprehensive model workplace suicide prevention program. Dr. Reidenberg has conducted training for the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization, and he created the world’s only certification program for safe messaging on suicide, as well as the <em>National Media Award</em> program for reporting on suicide and mental health.</p> <p> </p> <p>He has been interviewed by major media including ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, NBC, CNN, Larry King, <em>Good Morning America</em>, <em>Good Morning Europe</em>, Headline News, <em>Inside Edition</em>, <em>The New York Times</em>, <em>The Washington Post</em>, <em>Huffington Post</em>, <em>Time</em>, <em>Newsweek</em>, <em>US News</em>, <em>People</em>, <em>Rolling Stone</em>, BBC and radio in Australia, Russia, Canada and the UK.</p> <p> </p> <p>He received the <em>Service to Humanity Award</em>, <em>Service to Suicidology Award</em>, recognition as a Champion of Change by The Obama Administration, and he is listed in <em>Who’s Who in America</em> and <em>Who’s Who in the World</em>.
