<p>Dr. Flavio Cannistrà is a psychologist, psychotherapist, author & global trainer in Single Session Therapy based in Italy. He is the co-founder of the Italian Centre for Single Session Therapy and co-director of Istituto Iknos, a state-recognized postgraduate school for psychotherapists.</p> <p> </p> <p>Dr. Cannistrà has been practicing psychotherapy for over 15 years, with a strong focus on brief therapy models. His training began in Italy under Giorgio Nardone, completing a Master’s degree in Ericksonian Hypnosis, and furthering his studies in Single Session Therapy with Michael Hoyt in California and Jeff Young at the Bouverie Centre in Australia. Further training in Solution Focused Therapy was also undertaken at BRIEF in London.</p> <p> </p> <p>Dr. Cannistrà has authored several books, including Single Session Therapy: Principles and Practices, which has been translated into English, Japanese, and Russian. Other English-language titles include Brief Therapy Conversations (co-written with Michael Hoyt) and Single Session Therapy: How and Why the One-at-a-Time Mindset is Effective (co-edited with Michael Hoyt).</p> <p> </p> <p>Although Dr. Cannistrà is primarily a clinician, he has also published in international journals and leads research through the Italian Centre for Single Session Therapy focused on SST and brief interventions, and is a regular guest at international conferences and events.</p> <p> </p> <p>Over the years, Dr. Cannistrà has organised training programs, involving over 1,000 therapists from around the world. In 2023, he served as the director of the 4th International Symposium on Single Session Therapy – the first of its kind to be held in Europe.</p>
