Expert Bio

Grace is a registered psychologist and author working with adults, adolescents, and children, as well as families. Grace has a particular interest in ADHD, which developed through her own experiences parenting a child with ADHD. As a parent and specialist in the field, she recognises the need for increased knowledge and education about the condition, with a focus on interventions targeted to the individual/s with ADHD. Her debut book, Fridays with Tristan, explores the role of mentoring in the treatment of ADHD.

Grace also developed OnTrac, a CBT-based group program for tweens and teens with ADHD. She has co-authored a series of workbooks with her daughter, Madalena Bennett (a GP with a focus on a multidisciplinary approach to treatment), with one for each of the OnTrac programs (five in total). Both Grace and Madalena support and endorse the need for greater knowledge and education about the condition, with a focus on interventions targeted to individuals and families living with ADHD. These workbooks are currently in the final stages of preparation to be published in the first quarter of 2023, by the University of Western Australia Publishing (UWAP). OnTrac is delivered through ADHD WA in collaboration with medical students from UWA who chose OnTrac as their Services Learning Program of choice.

Grace is skilled in a range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy, but mostly adopts an eclectic approach on the basis that each client is unique and has their own particular presentation. Her overriding focus is to help the client develop a better understanding of their challenges and grow in a personally meaningful way. She believes that the relationship between Therapist and Client is central to the counselling process and that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach; clients have different needs based on their presenting issues and history.

Grace is also a member of the Australian Psychology Society (APS), the Australian Association for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (AACBT), the Association of Contextual Behavioural Science (ACBS), and is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA).
