Grace Sholl is a lived experience advisor, researcher & advocate, working with leading suicide prevention bodies within Australia. She combines her lived experience of mental illness and suicide with her background in psychology and suicidology to advocate for systematic and social change, advising government and non-government organisations on policy, research and clinical governance.

<p>Grace Sholl (she/her) combines her lived experience of mental illness and suicide with her background in psychology and suicidology to advocate for systematic and social change. Grace advises government and non-government organisations on policy, research and clinical governance, having previously worked with organisations like Beyond Blue, Suicide Prevention Australia, the Queensland Mental Health Commission, the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research, as well as Primary Health Networks (PHNs) across the country.</p><br><p>Grace is a lived experience advisor on the Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention's MRFF: adaptation, feasibility and utility of 'Systematic Tailored Assessment for Responding to Suicidality protocol' project, helping to adapt the existing, adult-based suicide assessment tool for use with young people, and to develop associated training for mental health practitioners. Grace is also a STARS-Yp training facilitator.</p><br><p>Grace is a member of Roses in the Ocean’s Policy Committee, the Department of Health and Aged Care’s Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Senior Officials Lived Experience Group, the Matilda Centre’s Youth Advisory Board, and the eSafety Commission’s Youth Council. She was previously a member of the headspace Youth National Reference Group (nY NRG).</p><br><p>Grace has previously advised on TAFE Queensland’s Social Isolation and Loneliness Micro-credential Project Advisory Committee, as well as Queensland Health's Chief Psychiatrist Policy Review Subject Matter Expert Group on Electroconvulsive Therapy and Crisis System Reform project Implementation Advisory Group (IAG).</p><br><p>Grace was a finalist for 2024 Queensland Young Australian of the Year, recognising her community service and lived experience advocacy. Grace also received an Out for Australia 30 Under 30 Award in 2022, recognising her work advocating for queer students and intersectional approaches to suicide prevention. Grace holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science and a Masters of Suicidology from Griffith University.</p>
