<p>Dr. Brigman has expertise in the area of student SEL behaviors and their relationship to academic learning and has published over 20 articles on this topic. Dr Brigman’s research, evaluating the effectiveness of SEL programs he has co-developed, has been the recipient of 3 research awards from national journals (Journal of Educational Research and Journal for Specialist in Group Work). </p><br> <p>Dr. Brigman has extensive Professional Development experience, working with school districts to implement and evaluate the impact of various SEL programs. He has co-written a series of 10 evidence-based SEL manuals under the umbrella “Student Success Skills”, covering K-12, which has been used by over 15,000 school counselors and teachers and has reached over 2 million students (www.studentsuccessskills.com). He also has experience as a classroom teacher and was a national award-winning school counselor. </p><br> <p>While at Florida Atlantic University, as a professor of counselor education, Dr. Brigman won multiple awards including, Teacher of the Year, Researcher of the Year and Scholar of the Year. </p><br> <p>He has published several widely used books including: 1) Group Counseling for School Counselors, 2) Evidence-based School Counseling, 3) School Counselor Consultation, 4) School and Censorship: Facing the Challenge, and most recently 5) Choosing to be Ridiculously Healthy and Unreasonably Happy: How Nobel Prize-Winning Telomeres Research and the Looking Good/Feeling Good Tool can Change Your Life.</p>
