<p>Hayley Purdon is an advocate for people with a lived experience of suicide. After recovery from a suicide attempt, Hayley turned to the suicide prevention sector to make change and ensure others did not feel alone in their experiences.</p><br><p>Hayley holds a number of advisory roles in the lived experience space and works as a facilitator to empower those with lived and living experience to use their voice in suicide prevention. In order to mobilise the change needed with how people with lived experience of suicide work in the sector, Hayley launched CriticLE, an organisation with the aim of prompting critical thought about lived experience engagement. Her main income is as a technical officer in the Commonwealth Public Service.</p><br><p>In 2022, Hayley began a PhD that looks into the participation of people with lived experience in the suicide prevention sector. She holds qualifications in applied data analytics, suicidology and human factors in aviation.</p><br><p>For self-care, Hayley spends time thinking deeply with her cat and dog on her lap.</p>
