<p>Lynn Pierce is a third year PhD candidate in counsellor education and supervision at The Pennsylvania State University with a specialty area in Rehabilitation Counselling. She has her Masters from Georgia State University in Clinical Mental Health Counselling. As a clinician, Pierce focuses on trauma and is EMDR trained. She has work experience with sexual and affectional minorities and individuals with disabilities. Much of her interest is in how intersecting identities may impact marginalized and minority individuals. Pierce is a service dog handler and her research centres on helping mental health professionals and related professions understand the laws applicable to service dog teams and how to interact with service dog handlers in positive ways to improve outcomes for this demographic. </p><br/> <p>She is a disability advocate providing consultation on disability issues including access and equity and is a frequent guest speaker on topics such as disability identity and culture, language and disability, and disabilities in higher education. Pierce also has a love of horses and recently obtained her Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL) credential and volunteers at a local therapeutic riding centre serving children with disabilities and veteran clients.</p>
