Expert Bio

Dr. Katrina Witt is an American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Post-Doctoral Research Fellow based at both Monash University and Orygen, the National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health at The University of Melbourne, Australia. She is also an editor for the Cochrane Collaboration in the United Kingdom. Her research interests revolved around interrogating the evidence base for psychosocial treatments to prevent self-harm and suicide, and using novel techniques from econometrics and other disciplines to improve statistical modelling to drive change in understandings of the relationship between self-harm and suicide. The innovative nature of her work has led to the award of prizes and commendations, most recently from the BUPA Foundation (2018) and the Victorian Young Achiever’s Foundation (2017).
