Dr. Michelle Steimer is a counsellor, educator, and consultant. She is an assistant professor at Waynesburg University. She has worked in private practice, and government and agency settings. Her areas of expertise are in military culture, trauma, anxiety and depression, and suicide prevention. She is licensed as a professional counsellor in the state of Pennsylvania. Dr. Steimer has a bachelor’s degree in applied developmental psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in mental health counselling as well as a doctorate in counsellor education and supervision from Waynesburg University. Her doctoral research was focused on military suicide prevention. Additionally, Michelle is a military veteran with over 15 years in service. Her research and work with veterans and trauma survivors has enabled her to present at the state, national, and international level.
