<p>Sonja Riddle is a clinician, educator, and speaker specialising in addiction and family systems. She is a Canadian Certified Counsellor holding a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor of Social Work, with over 15 years of experience delivering mental health and addiction treatment across the continuum of care in several of Canada's leading treatment facilities.</p> <p>Sonja is an advocate for raising the standard of care for families within addiction treatment. Over the past five years, she has developed a nonprofit organisation dedicated to supporting families impacted by substance use. She also designed and facilitated a trauma-informed program for Veterans and their family members affected by addiction, funded by Veterans Affairs Canada's Veteran and Family Wellbeing Fund.</p> <p>Her clinical and educational work has focused extensively on the development of family and children's programming within addiction treatment. She supports both families and clinicians in understanding the relational dynamics that influence substance use and recovery. Drawing on family systems theory, attachment science, and trauma-informed practice, she offers an integrated framework that expands how addiction is conceptualised and treated.</p> <p>Sonja is known for translating complex clinical concepts into clear, practical strategies. She provides professional training and education for clinicians and frontline practitioners, equipping them with tools that can be readily applied in practice. Her work is further informed by lived experience growing up in a home impacted by addiction, which continues to shape her grounded and compassionate approach.</p>
