August 2024’s MHA YouTube channel video releases explored trauma prevention, metacognitive therapy, parenting and ADHD, and happiness.

  • Fireside: Helping Clients Navigate Modern Challenges Through the Lens of Trauma Prevention (watch video). Dr. Cirecie West-Olatunji explore ways clinicians can adopt a trauma preventative approach when helping clients navigate modern challenges and stressors (including traumatic stress).
  • What is Metacognitive Therapy? (watch video). Metacognitive Therapy is a science-backed psychotherapy approach which attributes mental unwellness to unhelpful thinking patterns, aiming to reduce these and change the metacognitive beliefs activating them. In this video, we look at what Metacognitive Therapy is and the mental disorders for which it has a successful “track record”. We explain why it works and briefly outline five steps therapists can take if they wish to work in a metacognitive therapeutic way. • Q&A – Parenting Kids with ADHD: Autonomy, ADHD & Neurodiversity Affirmation (watch video). Dr. Justin Coulson outlines the philosophy of needs-supportive parenting for neurodiverse children, which draws its framework from self-determination theory to support autonomy development, and examines how to manage neurodiversity without coddling. • Q&A – Parenting ADHD Children: Prevalence & Impact (watch video).
