Client Responsiveness: The Dawning of a New Approach to Modern Therapeutic Practice

In this course, Richard Hill introduces and defines the notion of client responsiveness, contrasting it with how current paradigms encourage therapists to interact with clients. Hill shows you, partially through case examples, how you can apply the new paradigm in your practice.

About this course

In this course, Richard Hill – psychotherapist, author, educator, and supervisor – briefly traces the history of therapy methods, from psychodynamic through to person-centred, but poses the challenge to work in a less deterministic way with clients, one that is co-responsive and co-creative. He cites research which validates the notion of client and extra-therapeutic factors explaining more of the variance in therapeutic outcomes than therapist method. Explaining the difference between current practices and what this new way of working would look like, Hill offers several case examples.
