About this course
In this course, Dr. Diane Kaufman, child psychiatrist and Founder-Director of the Arts & Healing Resiliency Center, takes you through the healing journey she began as a suicidal medical student to becoming a poet and artist as well as health professional. In an extraordinary multi-media presentation, Kaufman shares numerous poems and other creations, showing how many of them were converted to books, films, songs, and even an opera to engage in the fight against suicide. The real strength of the presentation is being able to see, through Kaufman’s story, how a person may be able to leverage both their mental unwellness and their creativity to go from trying to end their life to leading a life of resilient mastery, with creativity deeply embedded in their healing and helping efforts.
