Inspiring Beauty from Darkness: Creativity & The Art of Suicide Prevention

In this course, Dr. Diane Kaufman takes you on a moving journey including song, poetry, and artful images to show how creativity can be utilised to help prevent suicide.

About this course

In this course, Dr. Diane Kaufman, M.D., Founder/Director of the Hold On Campaign for Suicide Prevention, does not just assert that creativity is a valuable resource to help someone heal after a suicide attempt, or to prevent suicide in someone feeling suicidal. She backs up her stance by sharing myriad examples of poetry, songs, quotes, and artful images (many of them her own) inspired by either her own or others’ experiences of suicidality or loss and grief from suicidal bereavement. Dr. Kaufman also cites several sobering statistics about suicide, listing the pillars of resilience, and outlining the warning signs of suicide.
