In this course, Dr. George Karpetis (Flinders University) discusses the application process of supportive psychodynamic psychotherapy techniques in the work with parents whose children suffer from separation anxiety disorder. The evaluation of the effectiveness of the overall 12 techniques are additionally discussed. Course participants will learn to identify the operationalisation process of supportive psychodynamic psychotherapy techniques in the work with parents; interpret parental and clinician narratives according to the psychodynamic theoretical perspective; explain how specific techniques prevent practice problems and; outline evaluation methods for clinical practice effectiveness.
