Village Key-ple: Effective Counselling in School Communities

In this course, licensed school counsellors and mental health professionals John Nwosu and Chanel Joseph-Nwosu introduce a comprehensive framework for effective counselling in school communities. They examine the key differences between school counselling and clinical mental health services, emphasising the importance of short-term, solution-focused interventions within a school setting. Participants will gain insights into Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory, the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and how data-driven approaches can improve attendance, behaviour, and academic performance. Through real-world examples and tiered intervention models, this course provides practical tools for school counsellors, educators, and mental health professionals to collaborate effectively and implement student-centred interventions that drive systemic change.
